Marcia Moraes (born 1969, BR/PT) is an actress, dancer and director and has been involved with several productions over the past 20 years. In New York she works with the Theater Company ECA founded by Richard Schechner. As a member of rasaboxes.org she is implementing rasaboxes training in courses she teaches around the world at all kinds of schools and cultural institutions.
She is currently teaching at The New York University (NYU), for the M.F.A. degree in Performance studies, the Neue Musikschule Berlin (Germany), the University Estácio de Sá (Rio de Janeiro / Brazil) for the B.F.A. degree in Theater. She also teaches for the Pós B.F.A. degree in Movement directing for theater, and the Pós B.F.A. degree in Performance, both at University Angel Vianna (Rio de Janeiro / Brazil).
She just finished touring Europe with “The Mind”, a performance collaboration with artist Egill Sæbjörnsson (Germany / Iceland / France / Denmark / Austria / Italy). For three years she was working as a director and performer, in numerous productions in Brasil and Germany, with renowned opera composer and multimedia artist Jocy de Oliveira. She is currently based in Berlin and Rio de Janeiro developing a series of performances between theater and visual arts, performing worldwide.
Marcia holds a B.F.A. in Cinema from Estácio de Sá University (RJ-Brazil), a diploma in Acting from C.A.L. Arts Institute of Laranjeiras (RJ-Brazil), a Pós B.F.A. in Dramaturgy also from Estácio de Sá University (RJ-Brazil) and a diploma in Dance (performing, teaching and choreography) from Angel Vianna University (RJ-Brazil). She completed two of four years of the professional program at the National Circus School of Brazil, as well as half of the music program (singing and theory) at the Villa Lobos Institute of Music.
